Our Leadership students have been using their online lessons to create video tutorials for younger students. They have created some fantastic activities that we are sure you will all enjoy! Check out our new Leadership website, and you will find activities ranging from sports skills and workouts, to fun challenges, baking, art, and even magic tricks!
We are proud that our school is one of the few international schools in Thailand that offers these particular Leadership Programmes. These courses break leadership down into a series of learnable and attainable skills and behaviours, and provide students with the opportunity to plan, lead and assess their own leadership abilities. During the courses, students learn the fundamental skills and behaviours essential for good leadership, how leadership is related to teamwork and employability, how to develop and demonstrate leadership behaviours and skills, and how to lead a range of different activities.
LANNA has two Leadership pathways – a general Leadership course that students take as part of Year 11, and the Sports Leadership course that can be chosen as an option during Years 12 and 13.
During Year 11, students undertake a semester long Leadership course which culminates in a Level 2 Leadership Skills Award. This is a certificated course awarded by Sports Leaders UK who specialise in sports and leadership courses for students both in the UK and abroad. The award is an internationally recognized qualification equal to a GCSE.Â
The Sports Leadership course is a specialist programme which leads to a Level 3 award, equal to an A-Level Pass. Also awarded by Sports Leaders UK, the award is an internationally recognized qualification that can be used directly as a university entrance exam, and in the UK and is awarded UCAS Points which determine the university entrance threshold. As part of the Sports Leadership course, students are required to devise and lead a series of sports and physical activities with different groups of people including young children (between 4 and 11 years), community groups, disabled people and older people. The course includes an opportunity to travel to Mae Sot and work with an organisation called ‘PlayOnside’, an organisation that works with the Burmese migrant community in Mae Sot and use sport, particularly football, as a way of bringing together and empowering young people from this community.
